Product Description
The production of stainless steel sheets involves several key processes: melting, casting, hot rolling, cold rolling, annealing, pickling, and surface finishing. The process begins with melting the raw materials, primarily iron, chromium, and nickel, in an electric arc furnace. The molten metal is then cast into slabs or blooms. Afterward, the slabs undergo hot rolling to reduce thickness and achieve the desired shape. The material is then cold rolled to further refine thickness and improve surface finish. The sheets are annealed (heated and slowly cooled) to relieve internal stresses and enhance ductility, followed by pickling to remove scale and oxides. Finally, surface treatments such as polishing, coating, or passivation are applied to improve appearance and resistance to corrosion.
Common stainless steel grades for sheets include 304 (austenitic), 316 (austenitic, with added molybdenum for better corrosion resistance), and 430 (ferritic, for moderate corrosion resistance).
These sheets are widely used in various industries such as automotive, aerospace, construction, medical, and food processing, for applications including structural components, kitchen equipment, chemical containers, and medical instruments due to their corrosion resistance, strength, and aesthetic appeal.
